What is a roof insurance supplement?
Last updated · Storm damage & insurance
Short answer: A supplement is an additional request on an open claim for work or quantities not fully captured in the first estimate. In Florida, supplemental claims have a separate statutory notice window (generally 18 months from the date of loss).[1]
Common supplement items
- Rotted decking discovered at tear-off;
- Additional ice barrier courses based on measured overhang;
- Code-required drip edge, ventilation, or flashing upgrades;
- Permit fees omitted initially.
